A Visitor Visa (sometimes known as a temporary residence visa) is a legal document that we place in your passport. It demonstrates that you meet the standards for entry into Canada.

How long can you stay?
Most travellers can stay in Canada for up to six months.

Eligibility
To obtain a visitor visa, you must first complete some basic conditions. You are required to:

  • Persuade an immigration officer that you have ties to your native country, such as a job, a residence, financial assets, or family.

Super-Visa for Parents and Grandparents
A super visa allows you to visit your children or grandkids for up to two years. It is a multiple-entry visa that allows for numerous entries for a duration of up to ten years.

Apply for a visitor visa if you want to remain for less than six months.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for a super visa, you must meet the following requirements:

You must be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, and you must have a signed letter from your child or grandchild inviting you to Canada that includes the following information: .

  • A pledge of financial support for the duration of your visit a list of the people in this person's household and
  • The number of people in this person's household
  • A copy of this person's Canadian citizenship or permanent residence document
  • Have medical insurance from a Canadian insurer that is: At least $100,000 coverage, valid for at least one year from the date of entry

  • Apply for a super visa from a country other than Canada
  • Be permitted to enter Canada
  • Take an immigration medical examination and meet various additional requirements
  • This application does not allow you to include dependents.
Financial assistance (proof of funds)
The child or grandchild who invites you must demonstrate that their household earns the bare minimum. The following are some examples of documents that can be used as proof of funds:
  • The most recent tax year's Notice of Assessment (NOA) or T4/T1
  • Pay stubs for employment insurance
  • Pay stubs and an employment letter with the salary and date of hire
  • Statements from banks
